The pkgutils package contained our package manipulation tools 
(checkpkg, descpkg, scripkg and sizepkg), as well as modified 
versions of installpkg and upgradepkg. But it was removed due to 
incompabilities with the official Slackware pkgtool utilities
from release 8.0.2 onwards.

UPDATE:
Some pkgutils utilities have now been put up as pkgscpts.tgz. 
AFAIK those utilities are 8.0-compatible. Use them at your own 
risk anyway. 

UPDATE II:
I just tested these scripts in Slackware 9.0, and they break 
really, REALLY horribly. They've again been removed. Few people 
now use the Slackware releases these tools were designed for.

Such is life.
